Lula`s Mexican Cafe in San Antonio

Food is amazing- I never write reviews but this was one of my best food experiences! I would come back for every meal when I'm in San Antonio! All the staff were super friendly, including the server Carey. Delicious large breakfast tacos, puffy tacos, and unbelievably addicting smoky refried beans. The tortillas are delicious and taste scratch made.

Got the puffy tacos plate and the egg and chorizo taco. Tacos were very good, affordable and delicious. Great service.

We came here due to the previous reviews. They were not wrong! Food was fantastic, but the service was the star of this visit! Our servers were nothing short of exceptional... we will definitely come back here on our next visit!

Absolutely wonderful lunch downtown! The prices were extremely reasonable--less than $10 for a full lunch plate. I had the Texas plate which I highly reccomend, co-workers had the Mexican plate which they also thoroughly enjoyed. We went at 11:30AM, which beat the lunch rush but it got very busy as we were leaving.

Puffy tacos are where it's at! The enchiladas are not the best. Service is great and value is good. The bathroom is located outside of the restaurant through the back door that locks behind you so if it closes all the way you may have to walk around to the front door of the restaurant or catch the attention of someone inside the dining room to let you back in.

Had breakfast at Lula's Mexican restaurant in down town San Antonio, TX. Training for a new career with American GI Forum.My co-workers and I had great service and good tasting food there today.This restaurant should be featured on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. GREAT food, fresh home made tortillas. Cheapest price downtown and it's a family owned business. They are doing a fantastic job and thought they deserved the recognition. Looking for good genuine mexican food, this is your place. Everyone at the Drury Plaza loves you guys! Thanks a bunch. 🙂

Solid Mexican food at a very reasonable price. The guacamole was a bit salty, but everything was good.

Fantastic local staple, lulas is a long standing member of the San Antonio community providing consistently excellent tex mex food to locals and tourists alike. Tortillas are perfect, eggs are fresh and they will give you exactly what you ask for. I do miss the Milam cafe, but glad to see another San Antonio native keep the torch going.

One the most well run restaurant I have been to in a long long time!! The waiters were phenomenal, very polite,very courteous..didn't have to wave for anything, most places I've been to I end up leaving..would definitely recommend this place.Cozy,great food,great staff,what more could you want.Thanks for everything!!

Cozy, FRIENDLY, and delicious! Whenever I am in San Antonio I make sure to visit Lula's and I seem to always get the Puffy Taco Lunch Plate (chicken)

Went to try it out without knowing anything about restaurant good choice prices were reasonable food was great and customer service was excellent. Fajitas and Green Chicken Enchiladas Were Great.

The Fajita nachos do not come with grilled peppers or onions. It is not a queso type cheese. I'm not sure what is fajita about it. Tea is great. Salsa is a bit more spicy than I would prefer and they have nothing milder. The portions were satisfying and the price was right, but just not what I thought I was ordering.

Only reason I can't give 5 stars is because they need to update their technology. Other than that, this is a true hole in the wall. You will easily walk past this place which is a HUGE mistake. The specials are amazing and sitting in for lunch is worth it just to get the chips and salsa.

The food was ok but the barbacoa was old and reheated (I used to manage a barbacoa joint so ik from experience) they also never brought out our flour tortillas. It wasn't even that packed so they could've brought the tortillas to us but they just didn't care. I guess they thought we weren't going to leave a decent tip so that's why they didn't tend to us, we only left a dollar tip only because the food and service was terrible. Me and my bf will not be coming back here. There's another Mexican restaurant called OASIS across the street which is far BETTER and CHEAPER. I'd definitely recommend eating there instead, the customer service is way better there too!

Feels like home. Family run business, everyone was absolutely polite and ready to serve. Made my morning that much better! Plus very close to the office which makes this my new go to. Thanks Gabriel familia. Wonderful establishment.

This place always delivers. The service is excellent, the food is great, and my protip is to skip the menu and just get whatever the special is. You won't be disappointed.

Consistent service with consistent comfort meals. The picadillo question, "papas or no papas?" This picadillo has papas. 😋

I went here, based on the previous reviews. I wasn't disappointed. The food was brought hot, made with fresh ingredients. The chips were made from scratch as well. The service was exceptional. The only downside is that the place closes at 2pm. You will not be sorry you went to eat here. A gem in an unlikely place.

I HAD TO write a review on this place!! My fiancé brought me here for the first time and I was very happily surprised. It’s downtown and from the outside you would think it was another ‘hole in the wall’ restaurant. But it surely IS NOT!!! Inside has that ‘old downtown building’ vibe & decorated beautifully. LOVED the enchiladas with chicken!!!They were topped with that melting cheese that is hard to find , tortillas tasted fresh , and the mole had that REALLY GOOD home style flavor. I definitely recommend this place if your craving some really good honestly Mexican food 👍🏼

Totally a corner restaurant geared for local companies, I snuck in and found the food to be very good. That said, while the service was okay at the table, they totally missed the mark when checking out. I waited next to the checkout 5 mins at lunch time. Just stood there... Very odd.
